Sealer Sales has a network of over 100 distributors in North America and we would like to highlight Pack Secure which carries our newest in flexible packaging.
Our newest addition to our stand up pouches is the wider 4oz stand up pouch which offers a unique look. Given the wider opening, the bag will also be easier to fill.
We are also proud to offer our black kraft stand up pouch. This bag is quite elegant for both food and non-food packaging. Your product is super unique…shouldn’t your bag express that uniqueness?
Don’t forget that pouches need to be heat sealed to prevent tampering. To see which sealers that go well with our stand up pouches can be viewed here.
Specializes in Packaging, Shipping and Warehouse supplies. Established in 1999. Location 8261 Market St. Suite M, Boardman OH 44512. Pack Secure partnered with Sealer Sales several years ago, as they believe our products to be an excellent fit to their product line.

We can offer both flexible packaging as well as heat sealing equipment for your coffee packaging. Most of our pouches can also be purchased with a one-way degassing valve. These valves help allow the natural build-up of carbon dioxide in freshly roasted coffee to escape while preventing oxygen, light or moisture into the bag. There are various coffee bag options available – remember that foil bags will have the best barrier for preventing oxidation.
Once the pouch has been selected, the pouches must then be filled with your product and heat sealed to prevent the bags from being tampered with. To seal your coffee bags, we offer a variety of heat sealing equipment that can meet your needs. Whether you are just starting your production and looking for basic and affordable units or faster production volumes with the option to print a date code or expiration date on the seal line.
Remember that if you choose a gusseted bag, a single element sealer such as your typical hand impulse sealer cannot properly seal through all four layers of the gusseted bag. Do not use a hand or foot or automatic sealer, not even a 5mm sealer. We recommend using a direct heat (constant heat) type of sealer. Direct heat sealers will maintain constant heat in both jaws.
With its sleek and compact design, the WNS-200D is great for smaller work spaces. Our WNS-200D is equipped with a digital timer which creates a consistent and reliable seal each time – the sealing arm is easily activated and will not result in operator fatigue. For additional units we recommend for coffee bags, please see here.
If you already have your bags and need a heat sealer option, we can test your bags on our sealers and send the samples back to you along with a video demo. Just contact us!
We will be exhibiting at the upcoming Coffee Fest trade show August 19-21, 2018 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. We are the sealing experts so stop by our booth #TT5 and see the sealers we recommend for coffee packaging. Register at www.coffeefest.com/los-angeles with code 84231 to receive 50% general admission.

Thank you for your loyalty and for allowing us to serve all of your packaging needs.

Sealer Sales recently made a donation of hand impulse sealers (FS-200 and FSC-220) and stand up pouches to the Industrial Engineering department at San Jose State University to assist with their annual class project.
Every spring undergraduate students take Industrial and Systems Engineering 120, a work measurement/work design class where they repeatedly design, test, build and then use a work station for making trail mix for on-campus food pantries.
In ISE 120, the students analyze every hand movement redesigning to increase safety while decreasing cycle time. Each year, the class distributes over 1,200 bags of trail mix (500+lbs) to the 11 on-campus food pantries. Read more about the trail mix project here.

The students provided us with a summary of best practices which we found useful to share here:
Sealer Sales is committed to serving educational and charitable organizations and we are very excited to be able to assist with this project. To see more pictures of the project, click here.

Our latest blog post is a refresher on the general basics of heat sealers. There are many types of sealers and choosing the right one may be overwhelming without a few basic points. We discuss four key characteristics of sealers to help you determine which best fits your application.
FUNCTION
Impulse sealers require no warm up time and seal by applying a pulse of energy to the sealing area, followed immediately by cooling. Impulse sealers only use power when the jaw is lowered. We recommend an impulse sealer for any thermoplastic material such as polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) which requires a lower seal temperature. Impulse sealers are easy to use (no warm-up time), economical (electricity used only during sealing process), and safe (no component is always hot).
Direct heat (constant heat) sealers maintain constant heat in both jaws. Direct heat sealers use power as long as the machine is turned on. As a result, direct heat sealers possess better heat penetration in order to seal thicker materials. We recommend a direct heat sealer for materials such as coated aluminum foil, poly cello films, gusset bags, coated Kraft papers, waxed paper, cellophane, mylar, coated PP, and other thicker materials. Direct heat sealers cannot seal polyethylene.
Feel free to read our previous posts comparing impulse vs. direct heat sealers
SIZE
The size of the sealer depends on the width of the material to be sealed. We usually recommend adding one inch to the width of material to be sealed to determine sealer length for easier handling. Cutters on the sealer usually trim at slightly less than width of the sealer arm.
SPEED
See below for a general guideline on speed (packages per minute) of our impulse and direct heat sealers.

WIDTH OF SEAL
Heating elements are made of nichrome (nickel-chromium) and determine the width of the seal. There are two types of heating elements: round or flat which are interchangeable in most sealers. The round wire is mainly used to cut and seal with no excess material above the seal. Depending on the width of the flat wire element, sealers are available in 2-3mm, 5mm, 8mm, or 10 mm. Some sealers are equipped with two heating elements for faster heat penetration making them ideal for sealing thicker materials.
