Product Highlight: WNC2 Pass Thru Sealers

Our WNC2-series pass through heat sealers offer clean and consistent seals.  The heat sealer allows front to back pass thru capabilities so that films can be fed through the sealer between the sealing jaws for an uninterrupted sealing process.

  • Sealing length
  • Sealing width
  • Single or double impulse sealing

Sealing and congealing time are regulated and sealing pressure is consistent each time.

Best Practice: What the Heck Does Congeal Mean?

CONGEAL MEANS TO COOL UNDER PRESSURE.

Document-2-page001

Hand / Foot Impulse Sealers
The hand or foot sealer is a manual sealer. What this means is that the congeal step or dwell step needs to be added into your sealing process to make a proper seal.    Hold the jaw down for a couple of seconds after the timer light has gone off to set the seal.  This will ensure a proper seal and will also allow the sealer to cool down before the next seal.  This will ensure longevity of the heating elements.

Auto Impulse Sealers
We recommend the congeal (cooling) setting to be at least 2x greater than the heat setting.  This will ensure that the seal has ample opportunity to set and cool under pressure.  This will also allow the heating element to cool as well.  The most important step for the longevity of auto sealers is having the appropriate congealing time.  Most customers skip the congeal setting in order to get a higher ppm (packages per minute) but this will only lead to problems – broken element and PC Board.

Maintenance – How to change the Heating Element and PTFE Cover/Adhesive on your Hand Sealer

Maintenance is KEY to a long lasting impulse sealer.  Regular maintenance of your impulse sealer will ensure the longevity of your sealer.  After using between 1,000-5,000 seals, it is normal for the heating element (wire) to break .  The number is dependent on your timer setting and will vary from user to user.  Regularly replacing your sealer’s heating wire, PTFE adhesive (sticky brown protective skin under the element), and the PTFE cover (brown protective skin over the element) is essential for your sealer’s health and well-being.

Take a look at our instructional video on how to change out your heating element and insulation pieces.
