Palletizing shipments are designed to keep your product safe and secure when transporting goods from one warehouse to another. Pallet stretch wrappers are machines designed to wrap pallets and eliminate the laborious task of hand wrapping.
When to Upgrade to a Pallet Wrapper
Hand wrapping can be time consuming and a tedious operation. Stretch wrapping utilizing a pallet wrapper is easier and will reduce your film costs and provide labor savings. We have found that even at 15 pallets a day, you may be able to justify the cost of a pallet wrapper.
Advantages of a Pallet Wrapper
Film savings
Pallet wrappers will stretch film accurately making sure you are using the right amount of stretch film. In addition, purchasing machine stretch film vs. hand stretch film will provide significant cost savings as well
Labor costs savings
Utilizing a pallet wrapper to wrap pallets will not only result in film savings but the faster speed of a machine vs. hand wrapping will result in labor cost savings as well
Consistent and uniform application
A pallet wrapper will produce a clean professional product. Pallet wrapping by hand can result in uneven quality depending on the operator. Multiple operators, time of day, fatigue and other variables may result in different quality. A stretch wrap machine eliminates those variables
Better Protection
Pallet wrappers are better able to protect pallets as they provide an even stretch force vs. hand wrapping
Cost Analysis: Questions to Ask to Determine WHEN to Invest in a Pallet Wrapper
What is your output? Think about how many pallets you are wrapping on a weekly basis
How much are you spending on stretch film?
How long does it take to get a pallet wrapped and loaded on a truck?
We have a cost analysis calculator available for you. Download our cost analysis spreadsheet which allows you to compare the cost of hand wrapping vs. stretch wrapping. Please note this spreadsheet only calculates the film savings and not labor cost savings.

When purchasing brand new equipment, make sure that spare parts are readily available to prevent equipment downtime. Most sealing equipment will go through consumable parts such as heating elements, PTFE, belts, silicone rubber, etc. While manufacturers carry spare parts for their own equipment, they are unlikely to carry spares for other machines. Downtime can be costly when parts are unavailable.
Research Equipment Before Purchase Thoroughly research equipment and vendor before you purchase to ensure that spare parts, especially consumable parts, are readily available. If you are not sure what parts should be kept on hand, ask the equipment manufacturer. Low cost machines may seem like a good option if you are price conscious, but if you cannot find replacement parts for your machine, then you may not be able to use that machine when parts need replacing defeating the purpose of purchasing a machine.
Calculate Cost of Spare Parts To calculate the cost of spare parts, calculate what one hour of downtime will cost your company. Working from this information and factoring in lead times, you can determine the cost of an unexpected shutdown. Then compare that to the cost of purchasing and storing replacement parts. You can make an informed decision based on this analysis.
If you do not purchase your machine from a manufacturer with a solid spare parts inventory, the cost of downtime can be high while waiting for the part.
Purchase Spare Parts even with New Equipment We recommend stocking spare parts with new equipment. If a part is found to be defective, you can mitigate downtime by having spares available for replacement right away. In addition, new equipment will still go through wear and tear parts quickly, especially if you plan to run the machine through heavy production.
Our parts department offers support throughout the lifetime of your machine, assisting with parts selection, expedited order and shipment of your parts.
